The Polestar Cyan Racing duo of Prince Carl Philip and Nicky Catsburg fought hard in the first Swedish GT race at Anderstorp, involved in a battle for the podium that unfortunately ended too early.
WTCC star Catsburg qualified an impressive second on his first visit on the former F1 circuit, just four tenths from pole, and handed over the car to Prince Carl Philip in third position.
”I had a good qualifying session and first stint of the race. I could not do anything about the Ferraris on the straight as they have so much more power due to the regulations. But we were well in the fight for a podium finish in the race and that was our goal,” said Nicky Catsburg.
Prince Carl Philip gained on the Ferrari of Tidstrand and Kressner in second position toward the end of the race, lapping considerably faster.
”The car felt great and I was making ground on the Ferrari ahead of me. Then, unfortunately, I put a wheel outside the track and went off in the next corner. I am sorry for the team, but we will be back even stronger tomorrow,” said Prince Carl Philip.
Prince Carl Philip remain in third position of the drivers’ championship, 29 points from the leading Ferrari duo of Fredrik Larsson and Ingvar Mattsson.
”Pushing the limits is a vital part of racing and sometime these things happen. While we lost some points today, we are closer than we expected to the competitors on this track that is the worst for us this season. We have a strong position for the second race tomorrow and the team is ready to make the most of it,” said Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, Head of Motorsport at Polestar.

About Polestar
Polestar is Volvo Car Group’s performance road car brand and was founded by Polestar Racing, today known as Cyan Racing. Polestar’s birth was a result of Cyan Racing’s race engineers desire to explore how technology behind the multiple title-winning success in racing could be applied to the performance of road going Volvo cars, on all roads and conditions in everyday life. The first road-going performance Concepts were launched in 2010 and the first performance cars, based on the Volvo S60, were ready in 2012. In 2015, Volvo Cars acquired Polestar Performance. Today, Polestar builds the S60 and V60 Polestar, 367 hp performance road cars with over 250 developments over-and-above the standard Volvo products. It also offers Polestar Engineered performance hardware upgrades and engine software optimisations for existing Volvo products.
In the future, Polestar will become a new separately-branded electrified high-performance car company. Polestar will offer a portfolio of bespoke Polestar branded cars that will no longer carry a Volvo logo. Polestar will enjoy specific technological and engineering synergies with Volvo Cars and benefit from significant economies of scale as a result of its connection to Volvo. These synergies will allow it to design, develop and build world beating electrified high performance cars.
